After missing the first part of this season due to grades, Patterson shaped-up, and has turned his academia around, and in-turn has been key on the floor for the Bruins.
With his 17U season just ahead of him, and no current recruitment to speak of — partly because of his troubles in the classroom — Patterson hopes it’s not too late to show area college coaches that he can be a desireable student-athlete.
“Hopefully I can get a few coaches to call. Last summer I had a coach call from Ohio, but my grades were terrible so I guess they didn’t even look,” said Patterson, who will play with Next Level this spring and summer.
“But now I have my grades together, and all that is straightened out, so I should be able to get some interest from somewhere -hopefully.”
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard is a versatile team-first player, and takes pride in being able to produce on both ends of the floor.
“I’ve got handles, but I’m also tall for a guard in high school. I can go down low and work down low, just whatever. I can come outside the lane and shoot and dribble, I’m multi-skilled, and I can do a lot all-around,” said Patterson, who mentioned to PHK what his specific role has been with the Bruins since he was able to get back into action.
“Night-in and night-out they just tell me to work hard, just go out there and give everything I have. We have three main scorers, so if i don’t step-up and play my role it could be ugly for us. I just do what I can to help my team on offense and defense.”
