Yukon
Vernon Turner 2017 Shooting Guard
Turner was huge for Yukon throughout the night, but fell into foul trouble allowing Mustang to go on a huge run. Turner is possibly the most athletic guard in the state of Oklahoma. He won the high jump in Track last year with his great hops. Turner showed off his hops throwing down a couple of jams, but we knew he could do that. What has always been the question with Turner is can he become a consistent jump shooter. On Friday night Turner was displayed a smooth pull up jumper. He has clearly improved big time at shooting the jumper. With that said he will need to continue to improve his jumper and be more confident in his shot. Turner has tons of upside with his athleticism. Turner lead Yukon with 18 points.
Jordan Williams 2017 Guard
Williams was in foul trouble throughout the entire night. When he was in Williams displayed good pace at the Point. He did not shoot the ball well, but still had an impact on the game defensively. Williams is a player to keep an eye on over the summer.
Drake Landeros 2017 Small Forward
Landeros was a player that had a breakout game on Friday night. He poured in 17 points shooting the rock very well from mid-range and even showing some range from behind the arc. He stands around 6’6″ on the wing. He needs to make better decisions with the basketball at times, but he has some nice upside.
Ricky Jones 2019 Point Guard
Jones could turn into a really nice player in the 2019 Class. He has a smooth pull up from mid-range with a nice handle. Jones displayed good vision at the Point throwing several great passes. He is a little undersized, but has plenty of time to grow. At times Jones shows his youth on the floor. Overall Jones showed he has some potential to keep an eye on.
Mustang
Jakolby Long 2016 Shooting Guard (Signed to Iowa State)
Long struggled shooting the ball in the first half, but found his stride in the second half. He blew past his defenders to the rim and finished very well inside. Long rebounds his position at an extremely high level. He has several highlight dunks and nearly finished off the dunk what would have been the dunk of the year. Long finished with a game high 25 points.
Curtis Haywood II 2016 Shooting Guard
Haywood is the best unsigned prospect remaining in Oklahoma without question. He stands around 6’5″, 6’4″ on the wing with great athleticism and a jump shot that improves each time I watch him. He was 4-7 from three-point range on Friday and finished with 20 points. On defense Haywood uses his length to create turnovers and adjust opponents shots. The upside with Haywood is tremendous.
KeJuan Frazier 2016 Point Guard
Frazier was the floor general for the Broncos on Friday. He can run the show and also score when needed. Frazier used his quickness to blow by defenders to the rim. He stands about 5’10” but has no problem finishing over the tall trees inside.
York Benjamin 2016 Power Forward
Benjamin has improved big time from the start of his high school career. This past summer on the Nike EYBL Circuit Benjamin grew leaps and bounds. His success in the summer has turned into a big confidence boost this year at Mustang. He has great upside at 6’7″, 6’8″ and will be able to make an impact at the next level. Benjamin is a qualifier. He was a shot blocking machine on Friday. Inside around the rim Benjamin finished strong or fought through contact to get to the free throw line. He is getting looked at by several low Division I programs.
