An emotional night for the Sapulpa as they took the court with heavy hearts after the passing of Freshman Point Guard Julian Smith’s mother Angel Smith. The Chieftains were able to transfer that energy onto the court and get a 69-58 win to advance to the regional finals.
Bixby
2016 Point Guard Parker Jennings
Jennings recently committed to Missouri Southern State University came into the game with an aggressive mentality. Normally known for his shooting, Jennings chose to attack the rim and get his money the easy way. He finished with a team high 17 points.
2016 Shooting Guard Will Fiser
Fiser left absolutely eveything he had on the floor. By jumping passing lanes and diving on the floor for loose balls, Fiser was able to give his team the energy and scoring they needed to climb back into the game. Fisher finished with 14 points.
2016 Shooting Guard Joey Homan
Homan showed up big on defensive with active hands in Bixby’s relentless press. Homan was also aggressive in taking the ball to rim and pulling up in rhythm for midrange jumpshots.
Sapulpa
2017 Point Guard Keenan Balance
Balance is one of the most underrated guard in the state. He continues to show his ability to shake defenders with his crafty handle and shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor. Balance finished with a team high 18 points.
2019 Point Guard Julian Smith
Smith was the first to hit the scoring column for Sapulpa and state aggressive all night. Much like his teammate Keenan Balance, Smith has the ability to create oft dribble. However, Smith is much more effective when getting in the lane and finishing with the floater. Smith had 13 points on the night.
2016 Shooting Guard Detrick Johnson
Johnson sported a large knee brace but didn’t let it effect his game at all. He has a knack for the ball and made the best of his opportunities in transition. Johnson needs a bit of room to get his shot off but can be lethal when left open. Johnson ended the night with 14 points.
2016 Power Forward Alex Ogunseye
Ogunseye had a quit first half but came alive throughout the 4th quarter in the interior and from the free throw line. He struggled in the zone defense of Bixby but was the recipient of what his guards created in transition. Ogunseye finished with a
