Last night Edmond North knocked off the defending Class 6A Champions and #1 Mustang Broncos. Not only did Edmond North win the game the Huskies blew Mustang out by 18 points at home.
Old Dominion Signee Tre Evans led the way at Point Guard for Edmond North scoring 33 points in the win. 2017 Point Guard Marques Wilson added 22 points.
So What has Changed Since Last Year?
There are three reasons for the Huskies success on the court.
1. Terry Evans becoming the Head Coach at Edmond North has given the Huskies confidence, but also the changes he has made on the court have made the difference. Coach Evans moved Wilson to the 2 and his son Tre to the Point. The move has worked tremendously. Another big thing Evans has impacted at Edmond North is instilling tough defense. Edmond North flies around on defense reeking havoc on opponents.
2. Tre Evans is finally being used the correct way. It is easy to see if you watch Tre play this season, he is a Point Guard. This season Tre has facilitated at the Point and created offense for Edmond North. What sets Tre apart from other guards is his ability to drive to the rim and knock down jumpers. Outside of the skill set Tre brings he has brought great leadership to Edmond North.
3. Buying In is the third reason the Huskies are having success. When asked what is the key going forward, Wilson simply responded, “Listen to coach.” Everyone in the Edmond North basketball program have bought in to what Coach Evans has told them.
Edmond North has proven they are the top team in Oklahoma. The only question remaining is will the Huskies stay at the top? One thing is for certain, Edmond North is the real deal.
