He says Division III and NAIA programs have inquired about football, but if basketball coaches wanted to talk to him, he’d listen.
“Not really any recruitment, not in basketball, because I play football and I’ve been seeing interest for football,” said Pitre. “I have interest from Georgetown, Franklin, Lindsey-Wilson and schools like that for football.”
The 6-foot-3 junior says it doesn’t matter which sport he pursues at the next level – he loves them both equally.
“It’s pretty even, I have pretty much the same love for it and the same desire to get whatever I can to play at the next level,” said Pitre, who feels he’s a bit under the radar still, hoops-wise.
“I feel like I’m really slept on a lot. I feel like it will come more this summer, I think I’ll have a really big summer”
He went on to define his playing style to PHK.
“I can shoot the mid-range pretty well, and I’m slowly developing other shots. I’m a pretty good passer and I have good court vision,” he said. “I’m not really all about myself, I have good court vision. I’m a team player, and I do whatever my coach needs me to do.”
As a reserve guard with one of Kentucky’s best teams, Pitre says his role is to come in and provide a spark for the Trojans.
“Really I just come in and I score when I have to. I come in and I rebound really well, that’s one of my main attributes. I play defense, get a lot of steals – stuff like that. I just bring a lot of energy.”
