He’s taken unofficial visits to two high-major programs in the last six months, and has seen a slew of additional interest from low to mid-major schools.
“I’ve had a lot of contact with coaches; Louisville, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Wright State sends me letters, Virginia sent me a letter, and I’ve been to Tennessee Tech too,” said Butt.
“I’ve visited Louisville and Clemson on unofficial visits in the fall. I would probably say I’ve gotten the most stuff from Wright State though so far, they’re really the only one that’s constant.”
Butt says his main focus right now is improving his skill-set and proving to coaches that he’s one of Kentucky’s best prospects.
“I’m just wanting to improve a lot on my game, and make colleges realize that I’m a better player than I put myself out there to be in previous summers,” said Butt, PHK’s 9th-ranked 2018.
A versatile prospect, Butt is most comfortable playing at the guard spot, in particular shooting guard, but he’s been playing nearly all five positions for the Warriors so far this season.
“I’m the key defender on the team right now, and I play almost all positions on the team, our big-man is out right now, so I’m playing down in the post a lot at the moment,” said Butt, who defined his playing style to PHK.
“I think my biggest strength is my vision. I like to break people down and find the open man, or spot-up and shoot. I think something I need to work on is my decision-making, I’ve already seen that improve a lot over the season. The game is really starting to slow down for me, and I’m starting to really see what’s there and what’s not there.”
