Continue ReadingLexington Christian power forward Tre King is one of 2017’s top prospects, and he’s started to hear some serious interest from low to mid-major Division I programs.
His 16U season was spent with EYBL Travelers, and that’s what launched his recruitment, which could soon result in some offers.
“I have interest from Samford, Morehead State, Navy, and VCU. Lipscomb has been showing me a little bit of interest as well, and Wofford – that’s about it,” said King.
“VCU has been sending letters, Samford and Morehead State have sent letters and called. Morehead State and Samford contact me the most and I’ve visited both of those schools.”
The 6-foot-7 forward has played primarily in the post throughout his career, and he says that playing around the rim is where his strengths lie as a player.
“I think a strength of mine is I run the floor well, I like to outrun my opponent and get layups and dunks. I think my mid-range and my outside shot is pretty good, and my post game is a strength that I have,” said King, who mentioned transitioning into a wing is a goal of his.
“I need to continue to work on my shooting, my ball-handling, and my quickness. I kind of want to transform my game into more of a wing, so I can play more than one position in college.”
King says during his junior season with the Eagles, he’ll be relied upon to score, and that his team goes as he he goes.
“My role right now is to be one of the primary scoring options, and if I don’t play well the team doesn’t really play well. So I always need to be on top of my scoring and rebounding,” said King.
“Right now my focus is on my junior year. I know it’s an important year, and I know I need to step it up more than I have if I want to get the interest and offers that I want.”
