Many overlook Richardson because of his size at 5’10”, but the heart and toughness he brings to the floor make up for what he lacks in height.
Richardson is a three-point sniper for the Antlers. He is a great team player willing to make the extra pass to an open teammate. One area of Richardson’s game he has been working on is defense.
“In the offseason I ran more allowing me to become faster,” Richardson said. “My training has focused on building my strength and conditioning.”
This year Deer Creek has a tough road moving up from Class 5A to Class 6A. The Antlers have their hands full with teams the caliber of Mustang, Edmond North, and Midwest City just to name a few. Richardson knows it won’t be easy, but has big goals for Deer Creek.
“With this being the second year in this conference we have a good feel of what Class 6A is like,” Richardson said. “My goal this year is for us to make the State Tournament for the third straight year even though this time it will be in Class 6A.”
The recruiting process has been slow for Richardson, but he is hopeful it will pick up as his senior season continues. He is averaging just under 10 points per game for Deer Creek.
Richardson is a spot up shooter on the wing, that plays tough defense, and always brings great hustle to the floor. The level Prep Hoops Oklahoma projects Richardson is NAIA Division II/NCAA Division III. He will make a great addition to a college program next year.
