The move has seemingly paid dividends for the 6-foot-7 stretch-four, who has since picked up two offers.
Two Division I programs – South Carolina State and Howard – have offered the talented forward, and he continues to hear from additional programs.
“I’ve have interest from a lot of other schools; like Tennessee State, Fairleigh-Dickinson, it’s hard for me to think of them all of the top of my head,”said Botteneberg, who says he’s leaning towards on school in particular right now.
“I’ve been thinking about recruitment in the back of my head, but I know I’m going to have to make a commitment soon to. Right now I’m leaning toward South Carolina State, but I’m also keeping my offers open, just in case I pick up some more offers, and I’ll have to think about those too.”
“Basically I just I just get to a team that fits me well, that’s just how I hope it all turns out.”
A 6-foot-7 stretch-four, Bottenberg broke down his playing style to PHM, and what it is he wants to continue to improve.
”I like to get the ball in the post and work down low. And I’m athletic so I like to crash the boards and get a lot of rebounds. I’m a shooter too, so I like to get the ball outside the 3-point line,” he said.
“I really want to improve my perimeter D and my defense in the post, and I want to become a better ball-handler because at the next level I feel I’ll have to dribble around the perimeter and do that kind of stuff.”
As he heads into the middle of his senior season at Millbrook Academy, Bottenberg says not only is his production key to the team’s success, but his leadership also.
“I’m really like a vocal leader for this team,” said Botteneberg. “Coach expects me to get a lot of rebounds, and double-doubles – from last season to this season my role has grown a lot.”
“I just want to win, I want to put good stats up, but I really want to end my high school career with a championship.”
