The 5’11” combo guard has played both the 1 and the 2 for Bullitt East the past couple years and is a key piece for one of the top teams in the state. He can shoot the ball, attack off the dribble and has solid vision as well. He needs to get stronger at the next level, but would be a great fit for a good division III program or a smaller NAIA school looking for a tough and versatile guard.
Currently Rakes is hearing from both Centre College and Transylvania with St. Catharine also showing some interest as well. He has currently visited both Centre and Transylvania and is planning to visit St. Catharine soon. He is looking for a school that likes to play fast and that has a good academic reputation as well. Centre is the school most standing out right now with Bailey, but Transylvania is also up there and a very viable option as well.
Bailey has played well early in the season as a scorer and a ball-handler. He is making it a priority to take care of the ball and feels he’s doing a good job with that early in the year. He wants to see his team get better defensively, but feels like they can get things worked out as the year goes on.
Bullitt East has legitimate 6th region championship and state championship dreams and they’ll need Bailey and his fellow seniors to carry the load. They struggled early last week against Warren Central, but made plays late to win the game. Rakes said he’s excited for the rest of the season and is ready to see what all it holds going forward.
