First Round
Edmond Memorial vs Casady
Casady Point Guard Omar Boone is a name to watch out for in this game that some may overlook. However, don’t expect this game to be close. Edmond Memorial will be out for revenge after losing on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs will get a victory and advance to possibly play Edmond North on Friday.
Edmond North vs Jenks
This is one of the best match ups of any tournaments first round games this week. Jenks is ready to make a statement behind the play of 2016 Point Guard TJ Washington. But Edmond North has been on a roll and will be tough to beat, especially at home. Edmond North advances in a very close game against the Trojans.
Lawton Ike vs Putnam City North
Both of these teams are coming off overtime games on Tuesday night. Lawton Ike escaped Bishop McGuinness on the road and Putnam City North need a Micah Speight jumper to defeat Putnam City. Darius Roy has been on fire early on this year for Lawton Ike. This game comes down to a couple plays. We have Putnam City North pulling off the upset of #1 in Class 5A Lawton Ike.
Piedmont vs Edmond Santa Fe
Edmond Santa Fe is coming off a very tough loss to Mustang. Expect the Wolves to respond after the loss and come ready to play on Tuesday night. Piedmont hangs around in the first half, but the Wolves will run away with this one in the second half.
Semifinals
Edmond Memorial vs Edmond North
This exact game took place on Tuesday night at Edmond North. On Tuesday Tre Evans gave the Huskies the victory. But on Friday we have 2016 Edmond Memorial Forward Kristian Doolittle leading the Bulldogs to victory. Edmond Memorial wins a close one that once again, comes down to the buzzer.
Edmond Santa Fe vs Putnam City North
Putnam City North pulled off the upset in the first round against Lawton Ike, but the Panthers won’t stop there. Putnam City North on the back of Micah Speight advances to the Championship game. Tyler Williams and Tauriawn Knight will make it difficult for Putnam City North. Expect this one to be very close late.
Championship
Edmond Memorial vs Putnam City North
As much as I want to pick Putnam City North to win the Edmond Open, you can’t bet against the Bulldogs. Coach Cowherd is one of the best High School coaches in the state and will have the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs ready to go this weekend. Putnam City North has a very tough road to the Championship game. The Panthers keep it close, but Edmond Memorial wins the Edmond Open.
