Who will emerge from the East?
Last season the East was swept in the First Round of the State Tournament. Will a team this year make it beyond the opening round? Our answer is, Yes. Union returns two 2017 Forwards Ethan Chargois and Adrian Rodriguez that will give opponents nightmares. How far Union will go no one knows, but the Redskins are the Prep Hoops Oklahoma pick to emerge from the East.
Will Norman North Make the State Tournament?
The Timberwolves will look much different from a season ago with Lindy Waters gone and the addition of Cameron Martin. 2017 Point Guard Trae Young had a tremendous summer on the Nike Basketball Circuit. Marcus Dickinson and Young have never made the State Tournament, but were so close a year ago. Prep Hoops Oklahoma fully expects the Timberwolves to make the State Tournament.
Can Mustang Repeat?
The Broncos went undefeated last season taking home the Class 6A Gold Ball. Mustang going undefeated this season won't be easy with nationally ranked teams scattered throughout the year. We do not want to give our preseason pick for the Class 6A Championship away just yet, but the Broncos are certainly in the picture. Norman North and Union will have something to say about the Broncos taking home the Gold Ball again.
What team improves the most?
We picked two teams one from the East and one from the West. For the West Prep Hoops Oklahoma predicts Westmoore will make the biggest jump from last year. They have lots of young talent around 2016 Guard Dakota Foster. Out of the East Prep Hoops Oklahoma picks Sand Springs to improve the most. The Sandites are loaded in the 2018 Class. Many young players had the chance to get great experience last year. That experience will pay off and the Sandites will make some noise in Class 6A.
Who lost the most?
Edmond Memorial, Edmond Santa Fe, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Putnam City West, Deer Creek, and Mustang all lost key players. Out of all of those teams Prep Hoops Oklahoma believes Owasso lost the most. Shake Milton did so much for the Rams. Milton was their leader on and off the court. Several role players also graduated for the Rams, Max Seefluth and Michael Anderson to name a few. Both Seefulth and Anderson played big minutes last year. Owasso will have a hard time this season with the loss of Milton. Kinzer Lambert will be looked upon to step into the leading scorer role. There is no replacing Shake Milton, but the Rams will do their best to battle on the East side of Class 6A.
