A pair of Division III schools are currently showing some interest in Pleasure Ridge Park shooting guard Hunter Stevenson.
Still, the 6-foot senior says he feels he should be receiving more looks, and will use his senior season to try and generate some additional interest.
“Greenville (IL) is interested in me, Union College, and WKU is looking at me a bit,” said Stevenson. “I got mail from Greenville and I’ve talked to them on the phone, and I talked to Union College on the phone. I went on an unofficial visit to Western Kentucky and talked to them there.”
“I’m concerned about my recruitment a lot because I want more looks than what I have now, and I feel like I should have more looks. I just got to work hard, and show people what I can do.”
Stevenson played with a couple of different teams on the 17U circuit this offseason, and says he improved his game in a variety of ways.
“I think I did good at scoring the ball, shooting, and getting open without the ball. And then just being a captain of the team. I also think my defense, and especially my defensive rebounding improved,” said Stevenson, who defined his playing style to PHK.
“I like to assist, and I think my basketball IQ is a strength of mine. I need to improve shooting off the dribble, I’ve been shooting everyday and working on one-dribble pull-ups with my coach after practice.”
As he heads into his senior season, it will be his turn to lead the time. Stevenson is the only returning starter from last year's squad.
“I started last year and we lost all our other starters besides me. I’m going to have to take lead of the team and be a captain,” said Stevenson. “I’ll be the guy to take the last shot.”
