After flying largely under the radar throughout his freshman and sophomore seasons, Zorian Morris Zorian Morris 6'7" | SG/SF Union Catholic | 2028 State NJ has a legitimate opportunity to step into a substantial role and take a significant leap for this new look Union Catholic group as he approaches his junior year. Morris displayed a lot of the tools that are extremely coveted amongst prototypical lengthy and wiry wings— a smooth handle and wiggle off the bounce to create scoring opportunities attacking the basket in PnR actions and isolation matchups while also showing an ability to punish defenses from deep when left open off the catch. An area that remains a strong suit for him, Morris also displayed a natural feel for creating offense in transition— putting pressure on the rim pushing the ball up the floor and attacking the lane for finishes through traffic coupled an ability to making live dribble skip passes to locate shooters and advancing the ball up the floor when he recognizes an advantage.

Morris wasn’t much of a factor last year at The Patrick School but looks like he could be among the breakout juniors across the state while stepping into a leading role for a new-look Union Catholic team. He stands out with great positional size for a wing guard to go with smooth ball skills and slick footwork as a slasher. His slinky athleticism easily catches the eye and Morris also looked comfortable spacing the floor off the catch from beyond the arc. There appears to be real upside left for Morris to tap into as he continues getting acclimated to a new environment at UC.

Zorian Morris proved to be a lengthy left handed wing who showed a natural ability to generate a ton of offense in transition while also at the same time showing promise as a perimeter spot up shooter. Matthews was most effective in “grab and go” situations— securing rebounds on the glass and pushing the tempo in transition to finish in traffic in the lane on the other end of the floor. Matthews also showed further intrigue, particularly as a perimeter shooter— knocking down a number of in rhythm outside looks off the catch, both off the ball in the half court and sprinting to the corner in transition.
