many times in NorCal, and this was the type of performance scouts were waiting to see. Even in a game where several shots he normally hits “in his sleep” didn’t fall early, Grissom showed maturity, poise, and elite two-way impact.
Clayton Valley tasked him with guarding Clovis North’s star 5’9 guard — a quick, tough assignment and Grissom handled it extremely well. He stayed locked in, didn’t let early misses affect his body language, and delivered when it mattered most.
Grissom hit two big threes late and scored nine points in the fourth quarter, helping the Ugly Eagles erase a double-digit deficit and rally for the win. His threes continued to look pure off the hand, and he never forced bad shots, letting the game come to him. Up two points with seconds left, Grissom sealed the game on defense with a steal.
Key Takeaways
- High-level two-way player with size, strength, and discipline
- Every jumper still looked smooth and on-target
- Strong defensive showing guarding a smaller, explosive scorer
- Stayed composed, stepped up late, and made winning plays
A standout performance that highlighted both his talent and his leadership.

Grissom had a terrific summer. He’s always been an elite shooter but Zion has added on to his game. He effectively attacks the basket off the bounce, he’s added a pull up off the dribble and he’s an underrated passer. Grissom was also one of the best perimeter defenders on Team Lillard’s National Championship team. Grissom gets a ton of deflections and is able to block jump shots.

has solidified himself as one of the best shooters on the West Coast. At 6’5, he’s a true perimeter threat with textbook mechanics—his feet are always set before the catch and his quick release makes it tough for defenders to close out in time. He’s a next-level shooter with great rotation on the ball and every shot he takes looks like it’s going in.
Grissom’s game translates well to any system because he’s more than just a catch-and-shoot specialist. He plays smart off hard closeouts, using one or two dribbles to get into a high-percentage look. He also rebounds well from the guard position, using his size and instincts.
Defensively, when he locks in, he can be just as effective. His length allows him to contest shots on the perimeter and disrupt passing lanes, giving him the tools to be a true two-way player. With his shooting ability, size, and versatility, Grissom is a name that college programs will continue to circle. Look for him to keep rising as one of NorCal’s most dangerous perimeter players.

Grissom has seen his stock skyrocket the past 4 months, as he was a key piece for Team Lillard 16s that won the 3SSB Championship a few weeks back in Rock Hill, SC, and he showcased why his status has risen at the Invitational. The 6-foot-5 wing alters/blocks shots within 15 feet of the basket, turns defense to offense, and understands floor spacing in the open court to get open for transition dunks. Grissom has good handles, uses the crossover or between the leg cross to attack his defender, is able to absorb contact and finish with creativity at the basket or with the mid-range jumper, has good off ball court awareness to get ready for spot up threes off the catch, as he is a knock down shooter from beyond the arc. Grissom takes advantage of over pursuits on the closeout, uses limited dribbles, and gets to the pull-up jumper with accuracy. Grissom does not shy away from contact and is emerging as one of the better 3-level scorers with good size and length in the California class of 2027.

has that red dot! He hit three threes in the opening minutes to start the game. Grissom has a sweet, feathery left-handed jumper. It starts off a bit unorthodox, but has a text book finish. At 6’5”, he has a quick trigger. Grissom doesn’t need much space or time to get his shot off.

Grissom is on an upward path, he seems to be in the process of improving his game across the board. He’s growing and looking better fit to handle the physical play. He’s stepped of his defensive intensity guarding hard out in open space with feet and lateral movement. We’ve seen the improved shooting from 3-point range, he’ll get a rebound.

He’s stepped into a bigger role this season and has handled it well. His point production is up. At 6’3 he’ll get his rebound, and bring it up himself. He’s filling lanes, makes good cuts to finish around the rim taking some hits. He’s using his dribble to attack from different areas. He’s knocking down open 3’s more often than not. He’s defending hard out on the perimeter.
