About Willie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I bring intensity to the floor both offensively and defensively. On the defensive side of the ball I am able to guard all five spots. As well as a strong rebounder and shot blocker inside. Offensively I am able to play both inside and outside with strong posts moves and three-point shooting. Also, a high percentage free throw shooter when I am fouled and go to the line.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very competitive and always want our team to do our best on the floor. I bring a lot of positive enthusiasm and intensity to my teams.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I played club lacrosse for Team MN for two years. I also am currently teaching myself to play the guitar. I also work at the Minnesota State Fair each summer.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Even though I have been the youngest on our high school team the last two seasons. I have developed into one of the main team leaders this season. My team just voted me as one of the captains for next year as a junior at our season ending banquet. I have also volunteered multiple times at Feed My Starving Children.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Coming in and starting as a freshman last year, came with a few challenges at first. It was a large jump from 8th grade traveling. But I was able to believe in my ability and continued to work very hard outside of practice. The hard work paid off and I became comfortable rather quickly. Ending my freshman year with All Conference Honorable Mention honors.

What type of college are you looking for?

My goal is to play college basketball. I am starting to visit schools and see what types of campuses I feel most comfortable with. As far as size, location and culture. I am also looking for a school with a strong business program.

Good things happened when Willie got a touch on the ball. He was dangerous catching at the high post where he could face up and make plays as a scorer or facilitator. He had a few high-low assists to his fellow forwards, but was also able to put the ball on the floor and attack off one or two dribbles. Off the ball he was constantly moving and was able to create some easy scoring opportunities with hard cuts to the rim. Nice blend of size, skill, and finishing touch around the rim allowed him to score 20 points in the win.
