One of the bright spots in Seneca’s loss to Wilson Academy was Russell’s second-half play. He went on to put up 21 points, hitting mid-range jumper after mid-range jumper. This was an adjustment for Will, because Wilson Academy had too much size at the rim for him to play his normal game. Despite being down big for most of the game, Russell stayed very active off the ball and tried his best to get his teammates going. The Bobcats won’t see another team with that type of size this season, so if Will brings some of the things he learned this game to region play, Seneca could stay at one loss for quite some time.

Also a baseball player, Russell has untapped potential on the hardwood. Comfortable on the perimeter, he uses jabs and footwork to get downhill or pull up for jumpers. Scores in the post with drop steps and soft touch. Defensively, his length alters shots and controls the glass. A versatile and polished wing-forward with inside-out ability.

A standout baseball player, Russell is becoming a known commodity on the hardwood with his diverse skill set. At 6-foot-7, Will is a tweener. He can go inside to score tough baskets with his back to the basket, implementing hook shots or he can play on the perimeter, use a sharp jab step to set up his defender and attack off the dribble with a pull-up jumper in his bag. Russell has stretch-four skills with his outside shot and is a versatile defender.
