Expert Analysis
Kyle Sandy | Prep Hoops Scout
Matta possesses the type of frame coaches love projecting long-term. The wing already owns good size on the perimeter with an athletic, strong build that should continue adding muscle. Tyson comfortably knocks down catch-and-shoot threes and shows encouraging flashes as a developing downhill slasher.
Beyond the scoring, Matta pursues rebounds aggressively and impacts multiple areas of the game with his effort. His positional versatility stands out because he can comfortably guard different matchups while contributing offensively in a variety of ways. As his game continues expanding, Tyson has significant upside.

Unfortunately, Matta was out tonight while continuing to deal with a lingering injury, but he’s still a player I’ve been hearing a lot about and followed closely throughout the spring. He’s a big wing with a long frame, impressive athleticism, and the ability to play fast while constantly attacking downhill. In transition, he’s explosive and looks to finish everything above the rim, bringing energy with emphatic two-hand dunks that can completely shift momentum. What stands out most is his aggressive scoring mentality and how hard he pressures defenses once he gets moving toward the basket. He embraces contact, attacks gaps with confidence, and plays with the kind of physicality that makes him tough to contain in the open floor. Matta also has solid touch from the perimeter, giving him the ability to keep defenders honest and making him more than just a slasher. As he continues to develop and get healthy, the tools are there for him to become one of the best-kept secrets in the 2028 class.
