An incredible varsity career for Ruffin comes to a close as he left it all on the court on Tuesday night. After a relatively quiet first half as a scorer where Ruffin mostly made drop-off passes to bigs, he came alive in the second half and helped Groveport-Madison erase a double-digit deficit to take the lead. In the fourth quarter Ruffin hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 41 apiece and also had the go-ahead steal and layup to take a 44-43 lead with 25 seconds left before Westland took it back. One of the best guards in central Ohio’s 2026 class, Ruffin left his mark on the Groveport-Madison program.

A tough guard who gets after it on both ends of the court, Ruffin makes an impact on both ends of the court. A player who has played at the varsity level since his freshman year, Ruffin is as experienced as anybody in the 2026 class. Creative as a slasher, Ruffin can be tough to stay in front of for defenses. Groveport Madison had their deepest playoff run in decades last season and they bring back enough talent to expect another deep playoff run.

Ruffin was getting busy off the dribble, creating a lot of offense for himself on Friday in my first chance to watch Groveport Madison this summer. Ruffin’s best move of the day came on a nasty spin that left the defender in the dust before an acrobatic finish at the basket. I also liked Ruffin’s defensive activity, having some nice shot contests going straight up without fouling and saving the ball from going out of bounds a couple times. After winning their first district title in decades last season, expectations should be high once again for Groveport Madison in the 2025-26 season.

A strong guard, Ruffin wants to get downhill off the dribble and score in the paint. Tough to stop when he lowers his shoulder and gets to the paint, Ruffin scored at the rim off two feet. A rhythm shooter, Ruffin hit a couple shots off the bounce that were contested as well. One of the more productive 2026 guards in the OCC, Ruffin has been a name to track in Central Ohio, playing up at the 17 U level this weekend continues to show his competitiveness and ability to produce against older competition.

Ruffin is a bucket-getter. Very skilled bucket-getter. He showcased great moves to get himself opportunities to score. He has a very tight handle on the ball with a plethora of moves and shiftiness to get him to the rim. He can score from every level but is a downhill attack basket player. I’d like to see him gain more court vision when driving. A super skilled player who just goes out there and hoops. He also has some really quick hands defensively.
