Lewis had a big weekend at the NCAA Basketball Academy in Memphis, shining in the individual prospect showcase games. Lewis is a point guard with impressive pace and scoring ability, with a couple scoring explosions as a Junior. (Six games of 20+ points) His father, Ron Lewis is his high school coach and was a standout at Bowling Green and Ohio State before playing an overseas career. After a first team all OCC Junior season, expect Lewis to be one of the top senior guards in central Ohio this winter.

Lewis had an impressive week with his ability to create for himself off the bounce and knock down pull-up jumpers. Without the athleticism or size to get all the way to the rim in the half-court, Lewis did a good job of hitting mid-range and floater type shots that showed off his touch. Defensively, Lewis also competed and helped cause a few turnovers to allow his team to get out and run on the fast break. Lewis has been a standout for OBC this spring and his scoring confidence has taken a leap this spring. I’ve always been a fan of the decision making and play-making ability of Lewis but with his increased off the dribble shooting has taken his game up a notch. I expect Lewis to put up some big-time numbers in the OCC as a senior and establish himself as one of the top floor generals in central Ohio.

Lewis first came onto the scene at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in the fall and followed that up with an impressive Junior season. I always liked the defensive effort and tools that Lewis has with quick feet and a good body. I also thought Lewis took some steps as a scorer this high school season, with a 36-point game as his new career high. Lewis will be playing with OBC this spring and summer on the Under Armour circuit, this will give him the chance to further boost his stock.

Another defensive standout, I’m not sure if I saw a more disruptive on-ball defender all day. Lewis has quick feet and was getting after it at the point of attack for opposing ball-handlers. Lewis also knocked down a couple spot-up jumpers and had some nice takes to the rim. A complete showing by him, I’ll be interested to see him again this winter or spring.
