The 32 team Saturday/Sunday bracket was dominated by Ohio teams with 7 of the 8 quarterfinalists being from Ohio. I caught Dublin Coffman against Huber Heights Wayne and was really impressed with what Clifton showed me. A wing who can shoot it off the catch, Clifton impacted the game in more ways than just shooting. With a couple euro-steps to finish at the paint, Clifton was able to score off drives and cuts. Defensively, Clifton blocked a shot and got a couple steals by being active in the passing lanes. A small college priority recruit, Clifton and Dublin Coffman are poised for a big 2024-25 season.

Rolling into the final four, Midwest Basketball Club Sayre/Maurer was shooting the ball at a high level on Saturday. Sharing the basketball and making the extra pass, Clifton was one of a few players who was making it rain from the outside. I also was impressed with Clifton’s offensive rebounding and putback scoring. A big game in the semifinals waits their team tomorrow, they’ll continue to battle and hope their perimeter shooting gives them a chance in the end.

Clifton showed some real improvement to me. He showed to have gained some weight and confidence in his game. There is no hesitation and he is aggressive. My first time seeing him and a featured scoring role and he embraced it. His mid-range game shined. Nice jumper with smooth rhythm and movement. His size is still a great tool for him.

I’ve caught Clifton both at the Midwest Basketball Club Fall League in Columbus and with Dublin Coffman. The wing is a top shooter in central Ohio’s 2025 class when given time and space. We also caught Clifton on the Prep Hoops Circuit with one of the Midwest Basketball Club teams. Dublin Coffman has a younger team this season but could make a second half push, I expect 2024-25 to be the season where they make their return near the top of the OCC. A name to watch for small college programs looking for a wing shooter.

Clifton came off the bench for Dublin Coffman as a spark plug. He came in and played with his head on fire. He was getting turnovers, and rebounds, and doing all the dirty work to help his team. He showed a really good ability to move his feet defensively and stop smaller guards from driving by him. He always had his hands out and used his length well on the defensive end.

A new name for myself, I was impressed with the early shooting ability of Clifton. Hits shots off the catch, Clifton has a somewhat funky shot that does give him a high release which allows him to shoot past late contests. With the impressive ball movement his team played with, Clifton had some easy looks and converted on them. For Clifton, the next step in his development will be improving as an athlete by looking to get quicker on the perimeter. This development would allow him to be more of a threat in transition.
