Expert Analysis
Sam Duren | Prep Hoops Scout
As always, Black plays with zero fear and all motor. Often first to the floor for loose balls. Runs like a deer in transition and competes for rebounds. There’s a lot to be excited about his game. But for the next step in his development, his awareness on the offensive end needs to improve. In these big games, there often is at least one or two mental lapses. In the game against Millwood, it came with a double dribble in the fourth quarter. Other times it’s been lax dribbling with “wolf” defenders chasing him down from him behind. Playing the game fast and hard is great, but improving his feel will unlock his potential. Crossings plays in a lot of high profile games vs top competition, so his basketball education should be sped up this year.

High upside sophomore that made his mark by doing the dirty work. Took a pair of charges, showing his toughness and good positional awareness on defense. The fearlessness he has shown over the year is a very good long term sign for his development. Especially when factoring in his athleticism at his size, which he flashed with a dunk in Saturday’s night contest. His impact should continue to grow this year as a spot up threat, as a halfcourt cutter and by continuing to buy in on the defensive end.

The highlight spotlight will on Black this winter. As he’s one of the most fearless players in the Class of 2028. He has no back down when it comes to trying to protect the rim. And the same goes when he sees a chance to punch it home. But he’ll be more than just a high flying prospect. The Knight is a quality shooter from distance. Those aforementioned traits give him a great baseline to produce now. How the rest of his game fills out will indicate just how high level of a prospect he can become.

The sophomore is at a keep it simple point in his basketball career. Play hard. Play fearless. Hit open shots. And it’s really working. Black flies around with transition slams, halfcourt cutting and making plays on defense. While also mixing in made three pointers throughout the week. Love the energy he brings with his plus athleticism as a fantastic base.

Promising two guard/wing prospect, who found some opportunties as a freshman at Crossings Christian. And now has fully flourished this spring. Fearless around the rim on both ends of the court. Already understands the key component of trying to dunk everything. Leading to fouls or simply finishing through contact. Good catch and shoot threat right now, who can also put it on the deck a bounce. Very intriguing longterm traits, who is a big part of why the talent isn’t running dry anytime soon at Crossings Christian

One thing is certain after this spring, Black is fearless when it comes to attempting to protect the rim or punch it home himself. Had a game where he got punched on. But he quickly shook it off and delivered a rim rattling slam of his own. Love the signs of short memory, complete with a competitive mindset.
Starting to live on the rim in transition, with a variety of slams. Good handles to navigate traffic when pushing it. In the halfcourt, Black is a good spot up threat from three as well. There’s lots to like about the well rounded game for the athletic youngster.

Closing out the top 10 with another prospect who appears to only being scratching the surface of his gifts when it comes to size and athleticism. Can already put it on the floor a bit, with his long strides gracefully eating up ground on drives. Good in a catch and shooting role, which should help him contribute sooner rather than later. Will have growing pains this year, but the clear upside is there for Black to play a pivotal role in a Crossings program that will continue to be among OKC’s best.
