Burks Jr showed out as a true multi-faceted point guard at The Freshman Showcase. Playing with the ball “on a string”, the 5-10 Burks was able to beat his defender, repeatedly getting into the paint hitting cutting teammates or finishing over and around traffic often with a pretty floater.

Shadell Burks was an active backcourt defender with quick instincts and disruptive hands, turning steals into fast-break scoring opportunities. Burks also excelled as the team’s playmaker, facilitating the offense with flashes of scoring touch, including a soft jumper in the lane.

Burks Jr. was the primary ball handler for Chapman Basketball Academy South 14u and did a great job setting the table for a very good team. He was consistently getting two feet in the paint, scored it at a high percentage at the end of his drives, and found the right opportunities to kick out to open teammates. The 5’7″ guard out of Greendale High School in Wisconsin really caught our attention for his all-around playmaking ability as such a young prospect in the Class of 2030.
