Sinnott is a cerebral lead guard who does a great job playing with pace and changing speeds to keep defenders off balance. He has really good body control around the rim and can finish either through or around contact at the bucket. He shoots it well off the catch and can create quality looks for his teammates. After appearing in 12 games as a freshman, look for Sinnott to become a big part of the rotation as a sophomore.

The comparisons to Bennett Stirtz wouldn’t be made with regularity if it wasn’t so easy. Sinnott doesn’t get sped up, he takes what the defense gives him and appears to be in constant control. With the ball in his hands, he created for himself on the perimeter, stepping into the mid-range or side-stepping for open threes. With his ability to attack off-the-dribble, his jab step often opened up enough space for him to launch from deep, too.

A decently-sized guard that didn’t get sped up and took what the defense gave him, Sinnott was composed and scored at all three levels, making it look easy. Between stepping into a mid-range shot, launching from three and contorting his body around the rim for layups, Sinnott thrives in scenarios where he can serve as the primary ball-handler.

Like Iowa’s new starting point guard, Sinnott didn’t get sped up, took what the defense gave him, remained in control and confident, seemingly unphased by praise from coaches and teammates while also taking coaching well. Sharing the floor with Cofield, he didn’t get as much time on the ball as he could have, which is where he also thrives.

Sinnott could take his game to the next level by being more of an off-ball scoring threat, showing the ability to shoot off the catch, but his skillset is currently tailored well to continue to grow as a player.
