Sam Marez has quietly put together a very productive spring and summer, showing continued development as a scoring guard. The Del Norte standout has consistently stretched defenses with his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc, but his offensive game extends well beyond perimeter shooting. Marez has shown the ability to create his own shot off the dribble, attack closeouts, and finish at the basket. His growing confidence as a playmaker and scorer has been noticeable, and he continues to take meaningful steps forward heading into the high school season. If his current trajectory continues, Marez could be in line for a breakout campaign this winter.

Samuel Marez Samuel Marez 6'3" | PG/SG Del Norte | 2027 NM was effective attacking the basket throughout the game. He used his size well when driving to the lane, consistently drawing fouls and finishing through contact with strong body control. His passing ability was on display all game, as he used his vision and quick decision-making to push the ball up the court in transition.

Samuel’s decision-making also stood out in pick-and-roll and pick-and-pop situations. When the defense dropped back to take away the roll, he calmly punished them by knocking down mid-range shots.

Marez is a player who really turned heads in the 5-on-5 portion of the day as he was constantly moving and consistently made shots. He’s a tough shot maker as he hit threes off the catch, attacked closeouts, and also had a few creative scoop finishes. Inside of the paint he’s a player who uses his body well to put defenders on his hip to prevent them from blocking his shot and converted. When he had the ball in his hands, he appeared to be a crafty guard with scoring instincts who kept defenders guessing.
