About Ryland
Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Svoboda made his debut in the rankings after bursting onto the scene this summer with his effort and activity. He impressed at the Expo, but we also saw him at a few in-state tournaments as well, and what stood out was the way that he dominated the glass and turned rebounds into quick outlets to start the break. He runs the floor, knocks down open jumpers, and competes defensively with positioning and toughness. His motor and feel make him an intriguing player that we feel could make an impact for his team this season. He’s a player that we feel earned himself a spot with his consistency over the summer, and now we’re excited to see if that translates.

Svoboda made his presence felt at the expo with his relentless work on the glass. He not only secures rebounds but quickly turns them into smart outlet passes to ignite the break. His ability to run the floor and stay active in transition gives his team extra scoring opportunities and keeps pressure on opponents. Offensively he can step out and knock down shots when left open, adding another layer to his game beyond his rebounding and hustle. That shooting touch forces defenders to respect him on the perimeter and opens the floor for teammates. Defensively Svoboda is tough and disciplined. He is very smart in using his positioning and effort to make life difficult for whoever he’s guarding. He brings a steady energy that impacts both ends of the floor, showing he can be a difference maker without needing to dominate the ball

Rylend plays fast and smart. He was getting downhill and living at the FT line. When he was not doing that, he was finding open teammates when the help came. He moved off-ball with purpose, handled pressure, and made things happen as the team’s lead guard. He made the extra pass, didn’t force shots, and kept defenders honest with his handle. This was a strong showing for a name that we did not know heading into the event, but we’ll now keep tabs on.
