I would have a very viable argument if I named Rj Walgate Rj Walgate 6'7" | PF Medina Christian Academy | 2027 State OH the MOP at the event. Not because of numbers or vertical leaps or any statistical category. Because you’d be hard-pressed to find a better on and off court demeanor or approach to the game. Walgate was always communicating with teammates, and always in a positive fashion. And don’t forget, he’s a 6-5 (at least) wing that can face the rim and go to work.

Hoop Tech has a handful of intriguing small college targets and I finally got the opportunity to see Walgate in action in early May. Walgate is a fluid athlete for his size as he’s switchable defensively and able to guard multiple positions. Offensively, Walgate mostly scores off drives and cuts where he can use his size to score over smaller players and his ball handling ability to drive past slower guys on the perimeter. Walgate has helped put Medina Christian basketball on the map as a new program to the OHSAA. Also a multi-sport athlete, Walgate is highly regarded as a whiffleball player as well. Interesting athlete who is taking his own journey through high school sports and finding a lot of success.
