Expert Analysis
Ryan James | Prep Hoops Scout
Ray Ray was a top 25 level prospect in this class coming into the event and throughout the event, in front of a number of scouts, Dildy showed off a consistency of playmaking for his team that left a strong impression. Ray Ray shot the ball well from the perimeter both from mid and the arc, and you are starting to see him fill out in the ways needed as he looks to help Breck this winter from whatever team he is moved to.

is a six-foot 2030 guard from Breck and plays Hoop Habits UA. Dildy I wrote in the freshman camp preview about gaining confidence on the perimeter shooting the ball and in the 5v5 game Dildy knocked down two 3-pointers, one off the dribble in transition and another spotted up in the corner. Dildy showcased his ability off the ball like I’ve seen from winter travel ball and spring AAU, and looks a bit quicker and stronger from June. Paired with McGrath, Dildy and him flowed seamlessly together in the 2nd half of their game and I definitely would like to see the two of them playing together more.

One of my favorite players of the day, Ray Ray played well on both ends and his breakdown of the defender possession was outstanding. I loved his reads of his man and how to attack him with an attempt, an attack, and then he made the right choices when he got to to the help defenders. Got his hands on a lot of balls defensively too.

Ray Ray was one of the top point guards I saw over the weekend. His quickness and decision making made him so dangerous in the open floor, as he could fly by defenders and deliver a perfectly timed pass to a teammate slashing to the rim. Defensively he came up with two or three blocks as he could stick to his man like glue to contest every shot they attempted. On the ball he showed impressive change of speed to blow by and get to the rim for a handful of finishes throughout the game.

is a six-foot Breck guard that played for the Hoops Habits UA team last spring and summer. Dildy is very good in transition with his athleticism and is a solid below the rim finisher. Dildy has shown improvement as a perimeter shooter and as he gains more confidence to go with his accurate shooting. Dildy plays defense on the perimeter like a football corner picking off passes and going the other way for scores.

is a six-foot-one-inch 2030 guard from Blake and plays with Hoop Habits UA team. Dildy playing as a secondary guard most often is tough to contain in transition and displays solid at the rim finishing ability. Dildy’s quickness and long reach enable him to get his hands on many passes and loose balls and turn turnovers into points. Dildy displays possible skill as a creator with the ball as he has good instincts and passing ability.

Ray Ray Dildy is a standout point guard for the D1 Minnesota 13U squad—a bigger guard who brings a commanding presence on the floor. What he may lack in flawless execution, he more than makes up for with a relentless motor and sharp basketball IQ. Ray Ray consistently shows impressive court vision, orchestrating the offense with a true pass-first mindset. He sees plays develop before they happen and looks to set his teammates up for success, whether in transition or the half-court setup.
