With range the second he steps into the gym, Gillispie is a certified long range bomber. In the contest against OWE, he opened the game on fire from deep. With effortless makes from 25 feet or more. Providing valuable gravity for Texhoma’s offense. Equally adept at hitting as a catch and shoot threat, or using a few dribbles on pull up.
The Heritage Hall Charger’s proficient shooting gives him a super power that appeals to collegiate coaches. He is starting to fill out his strong frame, which will also help in that regard as well. One area of improvement is more fluidity on the defensive end. He does use his recently added strength well when bodying up on guards. But there are instances along the perimeter where his lateral movements need to improve. Along with playing with a more athletic and stronger based around the rim.

Gillispie was able to get his one dribble step back three going for much of the weekend. He seemingly could not miss when stepping back to his left off the bounce. The junior paired well with

and was able to knock down 54% of his long range shots in Kansas City. Gillispie is always shot-ready and showcased his deep range, hitting multiple 3-pointers from far beyond the line. Porter was able to help his Southern Assault Texoma team to a 3-1 record.

Pure shooter, who was hitting from well beyond the high school and even college three point lines. The net barely moved on some of his swishes and he must be accounted for. Provides big time gravity for his athletic teammates to attack the rim. Finished with 14 points, tied for a team high for the Chargers. Has taken a big step this season and his role could grow down the stretch.

The Charger has been more of a score first guard during his time Heritage Hall, especially as a spot up threat. But since the calendar turned to 2025, his on the court play has shifted. It’s started with better work in the mid-range. And then more time on the ball during grassroots season and during early summer ball with the Hall. It’s become clear Gillispie has the handles and the beginning of the feel to be a true point guard. A knee injury has slowed his development over the last month. But a potentially healthy Gillispie will have ample opportunities this winter to grow as the lead guard for a Chargers team with good talent around him.

Mr Pull Up, Gillispie is continuing to master his old school mid-range game. Has started to add some muscle and more suddenness to his game. Allowing him to shake defenders, then quickly rise up and drain it. Three point shooting was a bit up and down on the day. But there’s no lack of confidence as he’s pulling from 25 feet plus. A high skill level has been apparent since his freshman year. Is now making all around strides this spring as he physically matures. And is becoming more consistent in his production.

Sharpshooting 2027 guard playing up with Southern Texhoma Assault. This spring has seen Gillispie make strides as a lead guard, with strong handles and a quality mid-range game. He can sling passes with either hands and with good velocity. While also improving his passing accuracy and reading of the game. The Heritage Hall guard could be headed to a junior year breakout. As the Chargers look to make their first State Tournament run since 2022.

After a promising end to this sophomore campaign at the high school level, Gillespie is spending more time on the ball. Which is part of his attempts to transition from more of a combo guard/off the ball shooting specialist, to being a true lead guard. The skill level seems to be there for him to pull off the transition. As he does have true smooth movements when it comes to his handles and ability to sling passes over the court. Generally did a good job of keeping it moving and not over dribbling at the Oklahoma Clash. Has a good variety of making the simple but important passes, but also breaking out the occasionally great vision, “thread the needle” type pass.
Still seems to currently be at his best as a spot up threat offensively. Has deep range from three, and shoots it well when in rhythm via catch and shoot situations. But there’s promise for him to attack off the dribble by getting to spots in the mid-range. His motions need to become quicker and stronger, which will also allow him to be better at finishing around the basket. A pivotal summer of development awaits Gillispe. With improving mental feel as a PG and becoming quicker and stronger to match his smoothness.

The sophomore checked in on off the bench shortly into the game, and proceeded to play big, impactful minutes. Smooth lead guard, with a quality handle. Did his damage in the mid-range, where he has a good change of pace. Will need to continue to work on his suddenness with his movements. As he can shake defenders but to have success at the high levels he’ll need to get into his shot quicker. Still, a promising complete game for a player who’s had flashes this year. And now looks set to finish his sophomore campaign very strongly.

Playing this November as more of a pass first guard, who can get off the ball and be a weapon from distance. Very good rotation and fundamentals as a shooter, with a quick release from three. Doing a good job of remaining calm while breaking the press or pushing off turnovers and rebounds. Has moments as a high level passer, who has good touch on his passes and wants to try to hit tough passes to set up teammates with good scoring opportunties. But can still be wild at times, as he adjusts to the speed and defensive concepts that are more common at the high school level. If he continues to refine his decision making on passes, while providing a consistent scoring punch, Gillispie should have a breakout sophomore campaign.

Another key piece of the Heritage Hall youth movement, Gillispie’s shot wasn’t falling this week as it has in some previous camp settings. But he did show good vision and overall unselfish decision making ability. Has some promise with eye misdirection when it comes to making actual no look reads to open up teammates. Long term, going to need to see shots fall as gravity from deep is needed for smaller guards to succeed. And like many younger players, being verbal and communication are areas of improvement. Smaller lead guards need to full of energy and loud, even clapping is a good starting point.
