Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Wedewer struggled with his shot for a majority of the night, entering the fourth quarter scoreless on 0-8 shooting. But he was great in the fourth quarter, scoring all 11 of his points, knocking down a pair of big-time 3s, and going 5-6 from the free-throw line to help ice the game away. The most impressive aspect of Wedewer’s game, however, was that he didn’t allow his poor shooting night to impact the rest of his game. He had 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals, showing that he’s able to have an impact on the outcome of a game even when his shot isn’t falling.

Wedewer isn’t the biggest guard, but he’s tough, scrappy, athletic, and quick. He’s a tenacious competitor on both ends of the floor who loves to attack the rim and score or get to the free-throw line. He’s a really good on-ball defender with great lateral movement and quick hands that he uses to make opposing ball-handlers uncomfortable. He’s a winner who makes the right plays on both ends of the floor, can score from all three levels, and is a really skilled playmaker.

What Wedewer might lack in size, he makes up for with skill and a deadly outside shot. His compact shooting motion was on display for DCBA in its OT win over Wisconsin Breakaway as he buried a 25-foot, top-of-the key jumper without blinking an eye at a crucial point in the contest. And then with the game hanging in the balance, Wedewer stepped to the foul line and calmly swished his foul shots. He is a player with tons of confidence, which stems from his work in the practice gym making shot after shot after shot.
