He is so tough to stop when he gets deep position, and he gets it often. The big post has the footwork, strength, and poise to finish in a lot of ways inside, and he also showed his vision with some great passes out of different spots to shift the defense. He’ll continue to be a tough matchup inside, and his poise helps the Rams work a great inside-out gameplan.

The big man was getting busy down in Yakima, and after a big win over Glacier Peak on the first day, Mills came back with 17 points to help lead West Valley in a convincing win over Lake Stevens on day two. They didn’t have anyone to match his strength inside, and he went to work from the blocks while also dropping in a few elbow jumpers and walking into a three.

Mills went to work from the jump against Glacier Peak, and when he was able to catch deep in the post, it was almost a guaranteed bucket. He used strength and footwork to spin around defenders, work to the middle, and finish with either hand. He also has a good midrange game and knocked in several midrange jumpers, facing up, even burying a three in what was a really impressive performance.

Mills was one of the most skilled posts at the tournament and he showed it with his ability to play physical in the post while staying in control, and with some soft shooting from further away. His big frame makes you aware of the power he brings down low, but he also found success in some quick pick-and-pops, working off of

‘s ability to attack inside. Mills also showed some soft touch inside, working against longer players and finding quick shooting windows to exploit or going high off the glass over the top of shot-blockers.

Mills has been a rock for West Valley so far and a lot of it has to do with his skill with the ball, but also his ability to play patiently and at his speed. He does a great job from the post and when he does get a 1v1 down there, he has the strength to eat up space and get to his spots. He does a great job utilizing pump fakes, getting to good angles, and has a soft touch that plays all the way out to 3-point range. Mills also does a really nice job working with his guards along the perimeter with DHOs and PNRs, using that big frame to free up his ballhandlers and pin defenders on his backside.
