Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Plalum could be one of the region’s breakout sophomores after transferring and reclassifying this summer. The Middlesex School wing had a strong season in Maine last winter and showed skill development throughout the summer. At 6’4″, he has good size on the perimeter and uses that, along with his length, to be a disruptive defender, particularly in the passing lanes. He’s a fluid athlete that covers ground quickly, attacks the rim off the bounce, and shows a good feel as an off-ball cutter. His length is an asset as a finisher around the rim and he’s done a nice job of developing his perimeter jumper, showing the ability to be efficient in catch and shoot situations.

Plalum, a playmaking forward out of the Middlesex School in Massachusetts, stands out with his combination of positional size, length, and athleticism. A recent reclass, he has the ability to shoot the ball in catch and shoot situations, while making plays off the bounce as a slasher. He’ll need to get stronger, but has a frame that he should be able to added weight to as he grows. Defensively, he shines with his ability to guard on the ball and make plays in space. He’s a disruptor that forces turnovers at a high rate, while also showing the ability to make plays on the glass.

Plalum, a versatile two-way wing out of Cheverus, has had multiple standout performances this spring while playing with XLP. The 6’4″ wing has good positional size, impressive length, and appears to have added size and strength to his frame. He can guard up and down a lineup, utilizing his physical traits and lateral mobility to his advantage. Offensively, he has some wiggle off the bounce, the ability to finish with length at the rim, and continues to improve as a shooter, showing the ability to knock them down consistently in catch and shoot situations.

Size and shooting is a reliable way to put yourself on the radar, and Plalum did just that with his smoothly translatable skillset on Sunday. With solid positional size and a sturdy frame, he shines as a dynamic floor-spacing option from the perimeter with a feathery release from 3. He mixes it up by using his size and instincts to sneak near the basket for easy points and is willing to throw his heft around defensively with the physical profile to offer switchability across several positions. We have to see more from his auxiliary game in higher-level settings before stamping him as a scholarship-level prospect, but the potential is certainly there with Plalum’s low-maintenance approach and skillset.

Plalum is a cerebral and confident point forward who plays the game with a great head on his shoulders. He was the best passer I saw at the tournament and understands how to play at his own speed and to his skillset. He can shoot it a bit from three, also, although somewhat inconsistently. Defensively, he uses his size and length and plays hard as a rim protector but is also willing to take a charge when the time is right. He’ll need to get a bit quicker to have a chance at D3 hoops, but that can definitely happen.
