seems to be showing more consistent flashes of legitimately getting adjusted to the speed of playing 17U as just a freshman. Given control of the offense and tasked with orchestrating offense for this group, Tait displayed poise and versatility— particularly with his spot up shooting with what seems to be a quicker shooting release and stronger finishing at the rim in transition while simultaneously assuming his regular point guard responsibilities of setting the table as an initiator, directing offense to find open shooters out on the perimeter and hitting rim runners in stride in transition.

is a rare case of a freshman playing up two age groups on 17U. Trusted with the keys for this

offense, Tait demonstrated a lot of strong intangibles out of a guard who will continue to see the usage rate he operates on— finishing at the basket and scoring in the in between area while mixing in unselfish playmaking to get others involved.

plays with an emphasis on facilitating and get his teammates the ball in the right spots to score coupled with the scoring versatility to be an overall potent playmaker with the ball in his hands. Over the course of multiple different instances, Tait offered several strong glimpses of his long term potential as a bigger ball handler and decision maker, ultimately impressing with a number of reads he made as a primary ball handler— confidence and comfort initiating offense, hitting live dribble skip passes to shooters and rollers in PnR action as well cutters and diver in different half court sets. All while remaining a threat to score— perimeter spot up shooting, crafty finishing at the rim when driving angles opened up, and using his body effectively to create separation and get to his spots in the mid range area.

possesses an interesting blend of glaring positional size, great length, and legitimate offensive skill. In SJR’s matchup against Plainfield, Tait showed some really good flashes of what his long term upside could look like later down the line as a bigger point guard. Tait showed an ability to handle the basketball with confidence and comfortably initiate offense, highlighting his decision making capabilities. Tait also showed flashes of his shot making ability— compact spot up shooting, crafty finishing at the rim when driving lanes opened up, and even using his body to bump defenders and create separation to get to his spot(s) in the mid range area.
