A positive sight to especially in regards to his long term development, it was nice to see him to make a greater impact from the perimeter, balancing that attacking mindset with reliable outside shooting and knocking down outside shots with increased confidence and efficiency.

A pugnacious scoring guard who is always in a relentless and constant pursuit of the basket, Gavin Roach Gavin Roach 6'4" | CG/PG West Side | 2028 State NJ was extremely aggressive in attacking any and every driving angle he could find in West Side’s matchup against Newark Tech. Aggressive in getting downhill and generating an immense amount of pressure on the rim both in half court action and in the open floor, Roach not only got in the paint at will but also demonstrated his ability to finish both with craftiness at the basket for soft touch finishes but also with strength, absorbing contact and different bumps for tough layups around the rim. Just flat out hungry for the basketball, Roach was also impactful in the rebounding department, generating a number of second chance points on the offensive glass. Roach’s aggressiveness also unlocked additional offense for him at the free throw line, generating ample trips to the charity stripe for easy offense at the line.

A high energy guard who plays with a relentless level of intensity and an insane motor, Gavin Roach Gavin Roach 6'4" | CG/PG West Side | 2028 State NJ lived in the paint Monday evening. What seemed to be a paint touch almost every time he got the ball, Roach showcased his finishing ability with a handful of different runners and floaters and some finger roll layups at the rim attacking closeouts. Roach was also extremely active on the offensive glass, getting a number of putbacks and generating second chance opportunities for West Side.

Roach’s aggression in attacking the basket, both in transition and in West Side’s half court offense, awarded him a boatload of trips to the free throw line. Roach played with a tremendous motor, making highlight plays defensively throughout the entire course of the game.

Expected to star alongside Aidan Carter Aidan Carter 6'7" | PG St. Joseph Metuchen, NJ | 2028 State #40 Nation NJ in the backcourt, Gavin Roach Gavin Roach 6'4" | CG/PG West Side | 2028 State NJ is a combo guard that is raw as just a freshman but has contributed heavily as a source of offense playing up on 17U. Roach is assertive in getting downhill, aggressively attacking the basket with a full head of steam. Roach also brings secondary ball handling to this Roadrunner 17U backcourt, looking to alleviate some of the pressure off Aidan Carter Aidan Carter 6'7" | PG St. Joseph Metuchen, NJ | 2028 State #40 Nation NJ bringing the ball up. Roach is an improving jump shooter and will continue to take strides in his perimeter skillset as we head into May and beyond this spring and summer.

Although just a freshman, Gavin Roach Gavin Roach 6'4" | CG/PG West Side | 2028 State NJ showed a large amount of flashes of being a multi level shot maker for West Side’s offense. Rapidly improving and possessing an extremely high motor, Roach showed he’s capable of scoring in transition, hitting mid range pull ups off the dribble, attacking the rim on halfcourt dribble drives, as well as knocking down open shots from three point range. Roach averaged 11.9 PPG throughout the course of his freshman season.
