About Nick

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Hard-working all-round player. I like to finish strong at the rim after a well-executed screen and love drawing attention then finding a team-mate for a good open shot. I box out on D and compete for rebounds at both ends.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I study the game, practice hard and take responsibility for personal fitness and skills development beyond team practices. I am competitive and want to be the best player I can be to help my team win.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Academic all-state recognition.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I volunteer at various community events. On the court I enjoy "directing traffic" and leading by example. I want to be dependable for my team and my team-mates. I always try to make the right decision quickly, I never give up and I think my enthusiasm rubs off on others.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I don't have many years of playing high-level basketball because I played competitive soccer for 10 years as a goalkeeper. Last year we won the Colorado state President's Cup in an undefeated season but then I played my first season of club basketball and I became passionate about the sport. I am determined to make up for the lack of years by practicing hard and I'll never stop learning the game.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would love to play basketball at a good engineering college, preferably with a civil engineering honors degree program. Location and school size is less important to me if there is a good fit.

Nick Jones has an all-gas, no-brakes approach to the game, and it’s led the Centaurus Warriors to a 6-0 start thus far. Jones has a versatile and well-rounded style of play, boxing out for rebounds on both ends while establishing his presence on defense. I could easily see Jones begin to settle into a nightly double-double caliber consistency once he warms up to the season. The 6’7 big man is having a dominating start and looks to continue to thrive.
