About Nehemiah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Defensively, I'm a high-energy, relentless defender from start to finish. Offensively, I'm a floor general; a scoring & facilitating point guard combo. Depending on what the game needs, I'm able to operate fully in both roles at any time. I love to get my teammates going & hit them for high % buckets, but I can also create for myself & shoulder the scoring load if it serves the team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I love a challenge. I fight uphill. I don't want it easy. I want to guard the best ball handler, the best passer, the best scorer, & get better in the process. I have been taught my whole life to love & serve others, work hard, & embrace the process. I don't waste reps. I don't waste time, & I don't give up on a play or on my teammates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm involved in my church youth ministry & I volunteer to help vendors at trade shows & comic conventions. At school, I've earned Principal's List, received academic achievement awards, & plan to join the National Honor Society in 11th grade.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

In the 12 years since I fell in love with the game, I began as a strategic role player & worked my way up to a starting floor general. I'm grateful for both roles because I learned how to be a better leader & teammate in the process. I strive to understand how each teammate feels at all levels. I truly care & always try to encourage my teammates from a place of experience, understanding, & love.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When I was younger, I wasn't the biggest or the strongest, so I had to find other ways to impact the game as an offensive & defensive threat. I focused on being fast, skilled, & having a high IQ. I had an underdog mentality. But since getting to High School, I've embraced that mindset & turned it into one of my strengths. I use it to "out-work" yesterday's version of myself.

What type of college are you looking for?

Since I love to play disciplined & intense defense, I think it would be good for me to play somewhere that prides itself on defensive identity. Offensively, a fast-paced style of basketball with fluid ball movement & good shot creation is my hope, but honestly--I just want to play for a college where I can have an impact, serve the vision of the coach, & grow as a player & person.

He has a great feel for the game and plays with a lot of confidence every time he steps on the floor. He can operate on or off the ball, making him a flexible piece in any backcourt. When a basket is needed, he has the ability to create his own shot and step up in key moments. He scores it in multiple ways—knocking down catch-and-shoot threes, pulling up for mid-range jumpers off the dribble, and attacking the rim with control and touch.
