The other key to sparking Coatesville’s dominant transition attack, Williams was a consistent source of frustration for opposing ballhandlers dealing with his pressure at the point of attack. He showed nice polish and touch around the rim for a couple swift finishes. Having shown he can be an explosive scorer previously at Sankofa Freedom (PA) and in AAU, Williams could wind up looking like a steal at the small-college level should a scholarship opportunity not materialize.

On Saturday Williams (formerly of Sankofa Freedom Academy) appeared to be fitting in nicely with his new squad. Williams’ versatile skill set enabled him to thrive in the open court as a distributor and scorer. A number of those fast break opportunities were created because Williams had picked an opponent’s pocket or sliced through a passing lane for a steal. Williams also relentlessly attacked opposing defenses off the dribble in the half-court too. Once he got into the lane, Williams scored through contact, kicked out to open shooters and dropped dimes to baseline cutters.

Last year at Sankofa Freedom Academy Williams averaged 16. 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. We expect those stats to increase significantly in 2024-25 as this dynamic and versatile guard is a perfect fit for the up-temp style of ball Coatesville is famous for playing. Williams can use his speed and change of direction dribbles to get to the rack on the fast break and in the half-court. He excels at getting downhill off half-court screen action and then scoring in the paint or kicking out to an open shooter. Williams is well schooled in the art of producing points via DHO action too. His 3-point shooting a legitimate weapon as well. Defensively, Williams is an on-ball menace who is willing to guard for 94 feet.

In September Williams was named as a standout at the Big 64 Showcase as well as the CoBL Interstate Shootout. So, it should not be a surprise that Williams was a top performer at the Coatesville Elite Showcase too. Williams excelled in Coatesville’s up-tempo pace as he piloted the fast break for scores and assists. His ability to convert on finishes after contact was impressive. The high IQ Williams also patiently directed Coatesville’s half-court sets, waiting for high percentage opportunities to develop before delivering a timely dime. Williams flashed an accurate 3-point shoot too.
