Expert Analysis

I’ve been really impressed with the growth Lewis has made as a senior, developing as a passer and producing more across the board. Lewis went from 7.7 points and 1.6 assists to 14.6 points and 3.6 assists a night as a senior. I’ve always been impressed by his athleticism and defensive ability, and it’s no surprise he’s top 5 in steals in the GMC. I’ll be curious if Lewis runs the primary ball handling position at the college level like he has for Fairfield this season but regardless of if he’s played on or off the ball, he can provide value at both ends of the court.

A defensive pest, Lewis Jr played some of the best on-ball defense I’ve seen this summer on Wednesday. Moving his feet and not fouling with his hands, Lewis Jr was getting steals and forcing tough shots on the perimeter. Lewis was tied for ninth in the GMC in steals last season and should be top five as a senior. Combine that with a couple transition dunks and Lewis Jr had his most impressive outing I’ve seen him have on Wednesday. If Lewis Jr can start consistently knocking down jumpers from the perimeter, he could be a breakout star for Fairfield.

Elite Mentality rolled through their first two games of the weekend with dominant performances. Lewis stood out with his ability to play off the ball and knock down open shots as well as attack a closeout. Lewis also created transition opportunities for himself off steals and got easy buckets due to his defensive pressure. The guard duo of Lewis and

Elite Mentality 16 U was the story of the day and this won’t be the last you hear of a player from this team. Lewis was a shot making guard who hit 3-pointers when left alone, on the spot-up in the corner and one dribble pull-up jumpers. An athletic guard, Lewis was quick and got a steal that turned into a slam dunk that got his team pumped up. Lots of talented players on Elite Mentality 16 U and Lewis was one who stood out the most.
