was electric in every facet of the game.
In Max’s first game of the weekend, he dropped 33 points with five 3-pointers. He followed that with another 15 points and three 3-pointers in game two, and ended the weekend with another 24 points and five 3-pointers.
Clearly this kid can shoot. He’s capable of beating his defender off the dribble and pulls up with a quick trigger behind the arc. But he’s more than just a 3-point specialist; he’s got impressive speed and footwork when he’s driving to the rim. And when he draws a double-team, he finds a way to distribute to an open teammate.
Not only is he an elite scorer, but his presence on the court is noteworthy. Everything seems to flow through Max, and he’s the clear floor captain for his Michigan Unified team. Even during the final game when his team had a comfortable lead, Max wasn’t trying to pad his own stats-he was happy to give the ball to teammates and made sure to distribute to others before the final horn.
He’s got a pure stroke, and a good head on his shoulders. He said what he was most proud of this weekend was not committing many turnovers, or taking a lot of bad shots.

Max’s Michigan Unified team went 2-0 on Saturday, and he’s a major factor in this team’s success.
Max has tremendous speed when driving to the hoop, and he possesses a seemingly endless array of moves in the lane. He’s capable of beating his defender off the dribble, and can split a double-team without much hesitation.
Max is the kind of kid that looks like a floor general. All of his teammates seem to look to him for support, as well as the ability to set the tone at the start of each half. Early in the second of of their win against InspireU, Max had an astounding 4-point play that spurred his team’s momentum toward their win.
Max believes he’s at his best with the ball in his hands, and he doesn’t commit many turnovers. His scoring has already been impressive in his team’s two wins. He dropped 33 points in their first game, and then another 15 in their second win of the weekend.

He runs with Michigan Unified Basketball Club 15U. Westerdale does a great job of running the show at the PG position. Max is a talented lead guard who scores the rock at all three levels. This baller stands out with his jumper, he cashes them in from deep with consistency.

Westerdale should be fun to watch this summer. When we think Westerdale in Michigan, a lot of us think shooter. But the younger Westerdale, while he can bury a jumper from deep, is definitely his own unique player. He can get in the open floor and lead the break, hit the block as a finisher, or break out wide as an open floor shooter. He should be an interesting and fun watch with Michigan Unified.

Westerdale has a bright future in the game of basketball and I’d look to him to be a leader. He has an advanced understanding and a confidence in his own ability to play it. He’s the type of shooter and ball handler that can take the ball in big moments, even as a freshman, and make a big play.

I’m not going to say “remember this name” because you probably already do. Not at all surprising that Westerdale has a pure jumper with deep range on it. But Max’s game is way more than that. He can see space and attack off the bounce. I’m looking forward to 4 more years of a Westerdale to watch.
