Maturah, a guard out of the Brooks School in Massachusetts, is the #14 ranked combo guard in this update and checks in at #68 overall. The 6’2″ guard is shooting the ball with more confidence than ever before and improved with the ball in his hands, particularly as a shot creator in isolations. His length plays on both ends of the floor, as a rim finisher and disruptive defender in passing lanes, and allows him to play bigger than his size. He’s got good instincts defensively and does a really nice job of sitting in a stance and competing on the ball.

Maturah has developed into a high level shooter over the past couple of years and showcased that last weekend with Magic’s HGSL squad. He moves well without the ball and doesn’t take difficult shots—he’s smart and understands what a good look is—but he’s a talented marksman who could probably have the leeway to take some harder ones. He has size and length, and really good footwork and balance when coming off screens and spotting up. Maturah should be a key piece of Magic’s HGLS squad this season and will almost definitely be a bigger part of Brooks’ location next season.

Maturah is as solid as they come. In a summer league where many players are trying to do things outside of their skillset, the rising sophomore is content to make the right play again and again, never trying to do too much. He’s only 6-foot, but he’s very long and uses his athleticism to guard a variety of players defensively; he’s strong enough to guard bigs and quick enough to guard guards. Offensively, he has no weakness and is able to do everything on the court, which makes him an awesome plug and play guy. I’ll be curious to see whether Maturah can crack the rotation at Brooks this season.
