Phillips was one of the better shooting sophomores at the event over the holiday weekend. Mason is shot ready at all times on offense getting his feet ready, his hands loaded, and has the ability to get the ball up very quickly on his three point jumper. In the games I was able to view, Phillips was extremely consistent using his shot mechanics to drain triples from way downtown, especially from the corners where he was automatic. Phillips is a smart off the ball offensive player not only with his shooting, but his instincts to cut and finish at the rim, a skill that some players in today’s game lack.

Constantly in motion and able to impact the game in positive ways on both ends of the floor, Phillips showed more to his game than in the past on Saturday in Appleton. Known primarily as a good shooter during his freshman year at East Troy, Phillips did make some outside field-goal attempts, but he also scored off the dribble with his quickness while also making things hard for opposing guards with his length and aggressiveness. The son of East Troy coach Noah Phillips, Mason is a big part of the strong squad at East Troy.

Phillips, a 6-1 guard from East Troy, is another 24:UP product that is making a name for himself this summer. Ranked as the #32 player, in the class of 2029, Phillips has been as unstoppable of a guard that I have watched utilizing a quick first step to put pressure on the defense while making good reads. Phillips, coming off of a strong freshman campaign, looks like he could be the X-Factor for the Trojans this season.

Phillips helped 24: UP rally to a 55-53 victory over All Wisconsin Hughes as he scored 26 points and made five straight foul shots in the closing minutes of the tight contest. Trailing 33-19 at intermission, Phillips took it upon himself to use his quick first step and aggressive nature to get to the basket to score off the glass. He also hit a huge three-point basket to aid in his squad’s late comeback. Phillips is the son of East Troy coach Noah Phillips and earned substantial playing time for the Trojans as a freshman.
