Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Paquette was probably the best player for Holderness in Sunday’s championship game against one-seed Kingswood Oxford. The 6-foot-3 wing hit shots from the perimeter and made the defense chase him around the floor on screens and cuts, but he also showed the ability to drive closeouts and made pull-up jumpers and layups. He has a super strong body and takes contact well, and he never overdribbles or takes poor shots. Paquette is an awesome role player who should find a home at the D3 level because of his two-way ability and offensive instincts. He won MVP for Holderness, who put a beat down on K.O for the championship.

Paquette, out of the Holderness School in New Hampshire, checks in at #32 among the shooting guards and #145 overall. Paquette is a big guard that does a nice job of playing at his own speed, uses jab steps and shot fakes to his advantage, and shows the ability to use his frame to his advantage as a driver. He finishes with strength around the rim and shows the ability to consistently make shots in the mid-range and from behind the arc. He’d make an impact from Day 1 at the Division III level and should have plenty of options to choose from come the spring.

Paquette has gotten a lot stronger and bulkier since the last time I saw him, and it’s paying dividends for him on the defensive end of the floor. The 6-foot-3 wing can guard up and down a position and does a good job rebounding the ball for his size. Offensively, Paquette is a knock down shooter who is always ready on the catch and can hit shots coming off screens or in standstill situations. If he can improve his off-the-dribble game, specifically his decisiveness and comfort when attacking closeouts, I could see relatively high level D3 programs being interested. Regardless, he should be getting D3 looks and will be a key part of a really solid Holderness squad this season.
