About Malachi

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a stretch big. I surround myself with basketball which contributes to my high basketball IQ. I can bang down low in the post, get boards, and shoot the lights out from the field. I have a high motor and am a glue guy on the court and in the locker room.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

While growing up during covid I have persevered my entire athletic career. On the court, I have the memory of a goldfish. I know what happened on the last possession has no bearing on the next. I am a goofball who enjoys raising spirits when the time is right.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I excel in honor choir and am continuously nominated for Student of the Month. I volunteer my free time as a referee and mentor for youth basketball.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

My primary mindset is to simply love people. I believe this translates to my abilities as a leader and a teammate. I understand that a true leader also knows how to follow. I believe one of my stronger traits is meeting people where they are. I have lived in many diverse backgrounds which has assisted me in developing into the man I am becoming.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

With some of my past experiences including covid I know nothing is for certain. I play basketball with the motto of treating every dribble as your last. My ability to play this game that I love can be taken from me at any moment.

What type of college are you looking for?

My first focus is a cultural fit. Like I stated above I love people. I want to ensure the energy I put into the relationship is the same energy I get back. I do value program success, but am not against getting my hands dirty to build success. I am going to play college basketball and graduate with a degree. I want to ensure the time I spend there translates to lifelong connections.

We previewed Hanson as a player to watch this weekend and from what we hear, he proved us right. From what I see, he had good numbers, averaging a points and rebounds double-double. From what I hear, he brought a lot of energy and intelligence to the floor.
