Expert Analysis

Luke is a gritty player who is not afraid of contact. He was a big part of the Gig Harbor team, dominating the paint for the team all season long. He defends at a high level, being a phenomenal rim protector. He has great touch around the rim and sets hard screens for his teammates, always rolling hard to the basket. Allison will be a big time college player in my eyes, wherever he lands.

Gig Harbor is a team lurking slightly under the radar in the 3A. They finished the season 17-4 with two late losses in the year, but they have the balance and size to make some real noise. Allison has been one of their impactful bigs who can take on multiple defenders in the post and has shown the toughness to battle for four quarters, taking shots, finishing through contact, and earning his way at the line. His work rate and effort around the paint gives the Tides a real post they can consistently feed, something not every team has.

Previous Rank: 76rnAllison has been a really intriguing prospect with his size and physicality, showing over the past year or two he can be an impact player off his work rate alone. However, he’s really improved his efficiency inside, finishing better through contact, incorporating more moves from the blocks, and doing a better job getting wide and keeping leverage down low. He looks a lot more reactive and quicker to act off the catch, even showing some more consistency at the free throw line while still remaining a high motor player.

Maybe the best true post player in the tournament. He has outstanding footwork and uses his body well to score in the paint. He’s great at creating space and is smooth around the rim. He dominated when he got the ball, especially deep in the low post. He had a bunch of points in the game I watched and didn’t miss many shots. A true back to the basket post who can step out hit the jumper if he needs to.

I’ve been waiting to see the Tides’ new 6’8 forward and finally got my wish in a tight game against Capital. First thing that jumps out is how big of a load this kid is. He is not going to be moved easily, and if you try and shove him away be prepared for a shove back. He’s a physical presence and seems to have decent enough ball skills to hop out on the perimeter and run some sets with hand-offs, pick and rolls, swing the ball around, or take a few dribbles away to relieve pressure.
