Another Prep Hoops Showcase standout, Johnson was getting busy in the fall not only at our event but also the Midwest fall league. While he was doing that on the hardwood in the fall, some of his other high school teammates just got done winning a football state championship. I wouldn’t be stunned if it takes Bishop Watterson a few weeks to get going during basketball season but Johnson should be a key piece once they get together and get their legs under them. A small college target at the point guard position.

Johnson has a really good midrange game that is just flat-out tough to stop. He has a good timing to his pull-up that makes it difficult to contest. He has a good elevation to his jumper as well. Good confidence in him due to his ability to score.

A steady point guard who has been on our radar for a while, Johnson continues to impress with his all around game. Defensively, Johnson forced a couple turnovers with his ball pressure and did a nice job of driving and kicking it out to shooters. Coached by his Midwest Gold coach Luke Harrington and teammates with

from that team, the chemistry was shown early in the morning with those players seeming to click. Johnson also knocked down a couple perimeter shots in the game I saw, with a few time and space 3-pointers and mid-range pull up jumpers.

Another prospect who got onto my radar from the Midwest Basketball Club Fall League, this time it was the Columbus league that brings us our next new name. Johnson had a strong spring putting up big time scoring and assist numbers and transferring from Olentangy Liberty to Bishop Watterson has allowed him to step into a primary role with multiple double-digit scoring games already this season. I’ll be curious to see how Watterson fares in the second half of the season with a handful of games coming up in the competitive CCL.

A new transfer to Bishop Watterson, Johnson will look to bring his offensive abilities at the point guard position to add a boost to the Eagles offense. With a soft touch on pull-up jumpers, Johnson can get to his spots and score efficiently. As a distributor, Johnson makes quick decisions and had numerous skip passes to shooters. In the final game of the day, I’d guess Johnson had the most assists out of any player I watched on Saturday morning. A talented lead guard, look for Johnson to make a name for himself in the CCL this season.
