was effective on the offensive end due to his slashing ability. He makes twitchy deceptive movements that can be hard for defender to keep up with. And he was able to capitalize on more than a few clean looks over the course of the game. Defensively, Young recorded a block and he also hunted down rebounds.

is now ranked #21 and he should be an entertaining player to follow this year. He is incredibly athletic and leverages his high-flying abilities to throw down dunks with authority. He also gets to his mid-range shot and is the type of player who can get to the free-throw line frequently. On the other end of the court, Young uses his speed and explosiveness to cause turnovers.

is now the veteran of the squad and he’ll likely be a leader for them. He is a difficult guy to guard due to his explosiveness and he can locate the rim even if he’s getting bumped in the lane. On the other end of the court, he can collect steals and swat shots.

makes a huge jump up to #20. The state champion played well in many of their games down the stretch and in the playoffs. He is incredibly athletic and can throw down some vicious dunks when he gets out in transition. Young can also score by knocking down mid-range shots or by getting all the way to the rack. With 7 seniors leaving Mater East Academy, expect Young to see a big uptick in playing time and usage next season.

Young is one of those players that I’ve seen but haven’t had a chance to evaluate in a while. He was active on both ends of the court, making his presence felt with his offensive skill and defensive intensity.

Never underestimate the value of experience. That’s exactly what the wing got, while contributing to a Mater East squad, that got tantalizingly close to a title. His IQ and ability to score the ball should give him an opportunity to emerge during the Grassroots season.
