Kobe continues to impress with his Powerhouse MN team this spring, showing why he could jump into the varsity rotation at Tartan as a junior. Against Minnesota Heat he shot the lights out from three, showcasing range that extended to well beyond the three point line. He’s dangerous handling out of the P&R as he makes smart decisions with the ball, can pull-up from three if his man goes under, and has the accuracy to thread the needle to his big rolling to the hoop. Plays with good poise on the ball and never looks sped up under pressure.

Kobe looked good leading the Powerhouse offense in stints of an opening round win, as his game consists of a great blend of scoring and facilitating. I was really impressed with his passing, threading the needle to teammates for easy scores and making long range passes to push the tempo. He can get a bucket in many different ways, as he knocked down a couple pull-up threes with a hand in his face. Hernandez has good size and is a capable driver too.

Kobe is one of the smartest players I saw on Saturday. He’s not going to blow you away with elite athleticism or eye catching scoring numbers, but he goes out and makes winning plays. He didn’t take a single bad shot in the game I watched, handled it with ease under pressure, and put the ball exactly where it needed to go every possession. Kobe plays the role of a true point guard for Powerhouse MN , and did exactly what he needed to getting all of his teammates involved throughout the game. Came up with a few big plays defensively as well, including a charge late in the game that gave his team a lot of momentum.
