had a lot of buzz around his name this weekend. He announced his Top 6 and Commitment Date on Friday, and then went out and proved he is one of the Top Point Guards in his class all weekend long. Savage’s quickness and explosiveness are clear traits that will translate to the next level, but he’s also a strong perimeter shooter and reads the game well. I checked Kevin out in his 18-point, 4-assist performance against West Charlotte (NC), and he was at his best using that speed to beat defenders off the dribble and create paint touches.

A highly skilled floor general, he plays with exceptional poise and a very high basketball IQ, consistently making the right reads and controlling the pace of the game. Savage combines good quickness with advanced ball handling ability, allowing him to create separation and get wherever he wants on the floor. He is equally effective as a scorer or facilitator, capable of breaking down defenses, delivering high level passes, and creating easy opportunities for teammates. Add in his ability to consistently knock down shots from the perimeter and off the dribble, and Savage becomes one of the most complete offensive guards in his class.

III blends pace, skill and poise at a high level. He never looks rushed. Savage operates with a veteran’s feel, picking his spots in the mid-range and beyond the arc while keeping the offense organized. His jumper is clean and repeatable, especially off the catch, but what separates him is his decision-making—rarely forces bad shots and consistently makes the right read. He’s added strength and it shows when finishing through contact. Defensively, he’s engaged and understands positioning. A winning guard who impacts the game without needing to dominate the ball every possession. High Major programs are seeking his services.
