I thought Georgia Stars had some nice talent despite going 0-4 this weekend. Ogunyemi stood out as a big boy in the paint who wanted to play around the rim with an early and-1 seal and some strong finishes trailing the basketball in transition. His best move of the day came with his back to the basket where he hit a nice post hook and shortly after made a kickout assist to a shooter from the post. With his size, interior scoring and rebounding ability, Ogunyemi is a big Georgia Stars will want to continue to build with for the future.

Big man has established himself as one of the most intriguing long term 2029 posts in Georgia. Terrific frame and physicality. During Darlington’s title run, he still looked like a freshman at times, but as soon as he got acclimated to the speed of the game he was effective, coming away with numerous huge plays on both ends of the floor down the stretch. Quality rim protector. Very patient in the pivot, showing a variety of moves.

leads off my list of Saturday’s Biggest Standouts from the Prep Hoops Southeast Spotlight. Joseph fits this title in more ways than one, because he was one of the biggest and best players in the gym today. Listed at 6’9″ 250 lbs and checking in as the top-ranked Center in Georgia’s 2029 Class, Ogunyemi is a can’t-miss prospect. Although he was able to dominate some smaller competition today, Joseph showed signs of translatable skills, like his soft touch on hooks and push shots. Keep an eye on Joseph to continue to dominate this summer with
Georgia Stars
EYBL.

The freshman earned All-Region honors after an impressive freshman season. He is a mobile, hard-playing big man who runs the floor well and consistently impacts the game with his energy and activity. At the defensive end, he rebounds effectively and alters shots around the rim with his size and timing. As his offensive skill set continues to develop, he projects as a frontcourt prospect with significant long-term upside.

Joe doesn’t look like a freshman. He is a huge intimidator inside with his height and stout frame. Ogunyemi is an impactful rebounder and shot blocker. He crashes the offensive glass well. He can finish around the rim and elevates for slams. The more reps he gets, the better he will get. Improving his balance in traffic is an area of growth. Ogunyemi will play a huge role for the Tigers off the bench this season. He’s got a D-I ceiling.

three-point attempt back into his face which resulted in Darlington’s ball, a highlight play right in front of a raucous student section. Ogunyemi is still a little raw as his balance and hands need a little more refinement, but at 6-foot-9 and nearly 230 pounds, Ogunyemi already has a college-ready frame. He is a difference maker in the paint with his rim protection and rebounding. Ogunyemi will be a double-double machine sooner rather than later on garbage points alone cleaning up misses. In limited action against St. Pius, Joseph recorded 4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks.
