Starting off this 2023-2024 season we had a lot of stand out performances from players all across the state. The one that stood out to me the most in our first week of games was the performance put on by Jonovan Wilkinson Jonovan Wilkinson 6'2" | SF Roland-Story | 2024 State IA of Roland-Story High School. Wilkinson is a natural shooting guard in my opinion but he also has the ability to bring up the ball or even move to the 3 spot in most situations. In his teams first game against Gilbert High School, they came away with a 95-90 win in triple overtime. Wilkinson ended the contest with 44 points on 14/26 shooting, 15 rebounds, and 3 assists. Since this event, Wilkinson has slowed down compared to scoring 44 a game but he still is averaging 27 and 10. He may not have been a player that was considered for Iowa’s High School POTY to start this season but at this point, his production can’t be ignored. He is putting up some great numbers across the board and his team is undefeated, that’s all that really matters right now.
